A Brand Built Around the Bodega
Gallery of Food has been turning ingredients into art since 1991 — a bodega, a café and a catering arm under one roof. The work was world-class. The brand, after decades of growth, was not keeping up with it.
The bodega had outgrown the sign
The original mark put “Bodega” at the front of the brand. That made sense in 1991; it no longer captured everything Gallery of Food had become.
- Pull the parent name back to the centre
- Redraw the script quieter, and legible at any size
- Give each line of business its own lockup and accent
- Replace a scattered palette with an edible one
The Fork Is the Brush
The parent name came back to the centre in a refined script — quieter, more confident, and legible at any size. A crossbar through the script reads as both fork and paintbrush, which is the whole argument: the kitchen is a studio.

Gallery of FoodBodega, Café, Catering
A family system gives Bodega, Café and Catering each their own lockup and a dedicated accent colour — room for each to be itself without leaving the family.
Typography That Tastes Like the Place It Represents
Bodega, a clean modern sans, carries headlines and the sub-brand wordmarks. Plantin brings warmth to body copy, menus and editorial. The pairing keeps the brand contemporary and rooted, sharp and welcoming — the way the food reads on the plate.
The palette comes straight off the cutting board: Clove, Saffron, Paprika, Sage and Butternut. Five ingredient-named hues replace a scattered palette across packaging, menus, signage and digital.
